Neglia Services has partnered with Fine Art Registry™
to offer our customers a
unique and revolutionary new system of permanently identifying and registering
jewelry, fine art and other valuables.
Fine Art Registry provides a patented system which is
to jewelry and valuables
what the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) system is to cars. With this system,
positive ownership can be established, invaluable to owners and insurance companies
alike.
The system consists of two main parts:
1. A physical identifier attached to the piece
of jewelry or art. This can be one of three forms:
a. A patented, one-of-a-kind, tamper-evident tag (about
the size of a quarter), embedded with a unique identification number and five levels
of covert, built-in security (this works well for artwork and larger pieces);
b. A Microtag™, similarly containing a unique identification
number and the same five levels of security (for jewelry and small collectibles);
and
c. laser engraving of the piece with the unique identifying
number, particularly applicable to gemstones and smaller pieces of jewelry.
2. A remote, secure database of the tag numbers
and detailed information
relating to the tagged item, including photos and valuation, providing a standard
and permanent record of the item. The item can be shown or not in the owner’s
online portfolio on the Fine Art Registry website.
(The tags are tamper-evident, meaning that attempted
removal of the applied tag will
result in visible evidence on the object that the tag has been tampered with. The
tag
itself is rendered unusable after removal and will no longer be accepted as a valid
tag
by Fine Art Registry. A field check can also be requested and performed by FAR®
approved representatives for verification of tampering.)
Using this system, one piece or an entire collection
can be tagged and registered quite inexpensively, and the owner can refer their
client to their portfolio on the database
website for a complete list of items with photos, full description, appraisals,
date of
purchase and other information.
Thus, the value to the clients
is clear: by tagging and registering each piece before a
loss or theft occurs, in the event of loss, the person
making the claim can prove
rightful ownership. False claims will be reduced and valid
claims can be settled
promptly and fairly.

Gemstones and settings which
are tagged/engraved and registered can be
confidently traded, left for repairs and appraised.
